In Memory of WV Miners
Almost 60,000 of you have made a visual statement in mourning for the West Virginia Miners who passed away just a few days ago on April 5th 2010. The 25 who have been confirmed dead makes this tragedy, just south of Charleston, the highest toll for a US coal mining disaster since 1984.
The coal mining industry remains a staple for many communities around the area, and sentiments are being echoed all over the country as rescue teams search for four more possible survivors.
You’ve been supporting in your tens of thousands, particularly on Facebook, where users have positioned this black Twibbon in the corner of their profiles in remembrance. Similarly, multitudes have been replacing their profile picture with the Twibbon as a mark of respect.
