Take your Twibbon Campaign to the next level

Now that we’ve launched our awesome Custom Campaigns experience to the world, we thought it would be a good idea to chat briefly about certain aspects so you make the most of Twibbon!

Tweet & Status Update Customisation

Now, every time you set up a campaign, there’s a generic tweet and status update in place. This is designed to fit for any campaign at all so that, whether it’s for an international charity, or a local sports team, your viral message will still make sense:

Eg. ‘Support #Love146, add a #twibbon to your avatar now! - http://...’

What we allow you to do in the Custom Campaign version is tailor this message to specifically reflect your campaign – this is really important because your status update is the most visible element of the viral process, next to the Twibbon image itself.

For instance, if you wanted to emphasise and generate donations on Twitter and Facebook, you might want to compose something like:

‘I just donated $10 to fight cancer and you can too – please help me spread awareness http://...’

You can see how specific and effective this can make your message, and this can really make the difference in achieving results through an online campaign. The only thing you’re limited to is the 140 character word count (Twitter) or a longer word count for Facebook updates.

In our recent case study with the lovely people @DogsTrust, they managed to raise £1000 in a matter of hours for their Valentine Appeal through combining this tailored status update customisation with our post-join redirect function (also available through the Custom Campaign experience). Their supporters updated and tweeted out:

‘I just gave my heart to a lonely puppy. Help us raise awareness of homeless puppies: http://twibbon.com/join/Dogs-Trust-Valentine-Appeal #DogsTrust’

Who could resist that right? Well not many people as it turned out. Once Twitter and Facebook fans came to wear their Twibbon and support this cause, we took them to the charity’s JustGiving page to find out more about the appeal and have an opportunity to donate. This led to all those excellent donations, and to them surpassing their target for the Twibbon appeal!

Vote for Corrie and Emmerdale in the British Soap Awards 2010

We’re teaming up with the lovely people at ITV and asking telly fans to put their remotes to the side for a second to show their support on Twitter and Facebook for their favourite soaps in the biggest event of the year!

Support Chile: At least 700 dead after 8.8 magnitude earthquake

While the Haitian recovery is still in its embryonic stages after two massive earthquakes last month, the world woke up to  yet more devastating news over the weekend that Chile had suffered a similar natural disaster on 27th February.

The epicentre of the quake hit just near the coastal towns of Curanipe and Pelluhue, with powerful aftershocks affecting the South American country’s coastline. Around 70 miles away from the centre of the shock, the city of Concepcion was devastated with collapsed buildings and flipped cars littering the streets.

While rescue attempts are underway, another serious consequence of this infrastructure-shattering disaster has been the onset of looting and violence, which have been met with military intervention.


International pledges are already underway, with the total economic damage estimated to exceed $15 billion (£10 billion).
