Facebook Social Game Developed for I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!

We’ve recently designed, developed and launched a social game running inside Facebook for ITV’s reality TV show, “I’m a Celebrity, Get  Me Out Of Here!”. Based on the old Nokia phone classic “Snake” you have to eat your friends to grow your snake and score points! You can check it out here:

Once in a while special jungle critters turn up, eating those results in additional bonus points!

Some of the key features:

  • Application is only available to users who “like” a nominated Facebook page, increasing likes!
  • Overall high scores table encouraging users to play again to try and get into the top 10
  • Friends mini league – only those scores by you and you friends, encouraging users to play again to try and beat their friends high scores
  • Scores publishing – when the game is complete the user is offered the chance to publish their score to Facebook, with the resultant post tuned to encourage maximum interaction from their Friends
  • Sign up for email news from the show, directly from within the application
  • Analytics dashboard showing the interaction with the application in real time

It’s early days but so far we’re seeing loads of users and an average of nearly 7 plays per user!

Our Custom Campaign of the Week!

Our success story this week is the England Ashes custom campaign. Created by the England and Wales Cricket Board on the 22nd of November, in only 2 days it has gathered 4,831 supporters and is currently top of our Trending Causes!

The ECB upgraded to a Custom Campaign and as you can see from the Twittercounter graph this had an immediate effect on the number of followers to @ECB_cricket, as users who added their Twibbon automatically follow ECB's Twitter account.

In the 2 days since the campaign started Facebook likes have gone up from 41,427 to 43,704!

As well as the automatic follow option, ECB took advantage of other custom campaign features such as:

Increased Facebook likes – their Facebook page is promoted on their Twibbon page and they can also specify that users must like their page before they can access the Twibbon

Increased traffic – supporters are automatically redirected to http://www.facebook.com/englandcricket after each join

Complete control over their message – they've customised the tweets and Facebook status updates that supporters send out

Custom Campaigns new feature - Increasing your Facebook Likes

With our Custom Campaigns you've always been able to specify your Facebook Page Id in order to get your Like Box appearing on all your Twibbons cause pages. Today we've taken this a step further by allowing you to specify that users must like your Facebook page before they can add your Twibbon.

You can now toggle this function on and off when either adding or editing Customisations in Campaign Management:

The feature is off by default but if you enter your Facebook Page Id and switch it on then when a users tries to access your cause to add the Twibbon on Facebook they will see the following:

Creating a Facebook Application for Adidas' 'We Are London' Campaign

We've teamed up with adidas to create a Facebook overlay application to support their "We Are London" campaign!

The aim of the campaign is to allow people to show that they are part of a unique and creative new generation in London that are "going places, making their own path and forging their own luck".

As part of this campaign, we have created a Facebook application that allows users to add the "We Are London" overlay to an image of their choice, positioning it for best effect.

We think it's one of the best Facebook applications we've created yet, allowing the user to:

  • Select the image they wish to use from their current Facebook avatar, from any photo in their Facebook albums, from any image on their computer or via their webcam
  • Resize their image
  • Position and resize the We Are London Twibbon on their avatar
  • Add an additional message that will be posted on their wall

The application is currently linked to from the campaigns Tab on the adidas Originals Facebook page (5.7MM likes!):

New Facebook Integration has Arrived

When Twibbon began, we decided to initially be focused solely on Twitter users being able to create causes and add images to their profile picture (hence the name Twibbon). Once we realised it was a popular idea that could take off, we decided late in 2009 to expand our userbase by allowing users to add Twibbons to their Facebook profile pictures via Facebook connect. However, you still required a Twitter account if you wanted to create a campaign or view your Twibbon history.

Well, over the past few days, we have been rolling out some brand new Facebook integration across Twibbon.com which fixes these issues. In one of our biggest updates yet in terms of increasing our usability and accessibility, you can now:

  1. Create campaigns by logging into your Facebook account
  2. View your history of Twibbons added on Facebook
  3. Link your Facebook and Twitter accounts on Twibbon.com

Here at Twibbon Towers, we see this as fantastic news for our Facebook users who can now create their own causes and check out their cause history without the need for a Twitter account.

To access these new features simply login to Twibbon via your Facebook account via button at the top right of Twibbon.com. If you're logged into Twitter at the same time, we'll automatically link the accounts for you.
