Custom Campaign Success Story: Spirit Day
On the 18th of October, GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) created a Custom Campaign for their Spirit Day, which remembers those teens who took their lives in the face of homophobic bullying.
With the hashtag #SpiritDay trending for two solid days on Twitter, the cause was hugely popular, as over 90,000 people added the distinct purple overlay to their Twitter and Facebook profile pictures.
As it was a Custom Campaign, GLAAD were able to make the most of their cause's potential. Within just 3 days, their Twitter follower count had jumped from 15,000 to 38,000 targeted users - that's a 150% increase!
In addition to this huge increase, GLAAD were able to:- Customise the status updates and tweets users sent out to include a link to their website
- Promote their Facebook page on the Twibbon page which contributed heavily to their 65,000 likes
- Redirect new supporters to the Spirit Day website whenever they add the Twibbon
